Eight local British embassy Staff have been arrested and accused of triggering London’s fury on Sunday and further exacerbating tensions with the west over the post electopn turmoil in the Islamic republic.

More than 2,000 people are still in detention and hundreds more are missing across Iran since the government crackdown.

“On Sunday police dispersed about 3,000 supporters of opposition leader Mr Hussein Mousavi who defied a ban on public gatherings in Tehran,” a witness said.

British Foreign Secretary David Miliband said London protested strongly ot Tehran over the arrests, adding that their release was Britains “Top priority” and dismissing claims the embassy was behind the demonstrations.

Since the election at least 17 people have been killed in clashes with the security forces.

Obama wants a stimulus package, Australia has had one it is not a permanent fix, we need jobs to help the economy more, rather than the cash which only helps for as long as you have the cash. That is not very long.

Australia has a new giant discount store opening up called Costco Wholesales, down in Melbourne (bottom of Aus) which will be great to help bring the other stores down in prices, it will also bring in an immediate 225 full and part time jobs not including people to build the store. This will be a great boost for the economy and jobs for people and this will help more than a stimulus.

France is supposed to fall another 3% this week in the economy steaks and that is not good as it shows more global down falls all over the world.

Swine Flu is becoming very bad down in the southern states with 1300 infected mainly in Victoria large gatherings like football games are the worst for spreading them around and several schools have been closed down too.

The World Health Organisation (Who) said a spike in the swine flu cases in Australia may push it to finally announcing the first flu pandemic in 41 years.

Canada has a very high amount of swine flu cases also. Who said the virus has infected 26,563 people in 73 countries and has caused 140 deaths.

If you stick to eating lots of raw vegetables and fruit, 5 veggies and two fruit every day you will keep your immune system up to peak performance and will be less likely to get sick. (This is an add campaign in Queensland)

Australia is boasting one of the best snow seasons for a long time with great falls in Tasmania, Victoria and New South Wales, they are even expecting snow falls in the capital city later this week ACT. Queensland is expecting no cloud coverage so it will have cold nights and warm sunny days for the rest of this month. Great sunbathing weather for the Tourists.

A Free Feed
(A fictional short story based on a real incident)

Neatly dressed and so badly inebriated, he waved to us. We ignored him.

Mumbling he tripped up the curb, grabbing hold of a lady standing there.

“How embarrassing, for that poor woman.” I thought.

He grabbed her around the waist and pulled her over.

It was funny though, and we couldn’t help laughing at the incident. Jerry the cameraman nearly fell off his chair he was laughing so much.

My friends had come up to Newcastle (Australia) to shoot some footage for their T.V. Show.

It was Anzac day and after the shoot I had driven down to Newcastle from my village near Cessnock to meet up with them for dinner.

We found an outside Indian café and happily sat down to a nice meal with some local Hunter Valley wine we had purchased over the road at the bottle shop.

Undeterred, the man picked himself up and headed for our table greeting us as though we were long lost ‘buddies.’ He seemed to have forgotten the woman on the curb.

I guessed that he was in his thirties and that he had been to the Anzac march, he told us he had been drinking with his mates, but “Now I have lost them.” He said.

Without an invitation he pulled up a chair and sat down with us. When he noticed we weren’t eating anymore and saw there was still food in the bowls in the middle of the table, he decided to help himself.

He staggered over to the counter and asked for a clean plate, and a glass. “I’ll help you eat this.” He said.

He poured a glass of wine and sipped it appreciatively “Good wine.” he told us.

Jerry had stopped laughing and told him off good and proper, but he didn’t mind. He just kept on dining at our expense taking abuse as if it was payment for the good wine and food.

This happy drunk told us he was from Canada and he now lived in Newcastle with his Aussie wife.

Jerry said “What part of Canada are you from?” the man said “I’m from Fort Seven, and I have been here for fifteen years working as an ice hokey coach for the local team.

Jerry was beginning to get curious about this man, he reminded him of his father to look at, even though he hadn’t seen his father for a very long time.

After the Vietnam War Jerry’s dad had been so depressed that he’d packed up one day and just left, without a word, and just taking a small bag of clothes with him.

“Do you know a David Wiltshire?” Jerry questioned him. “That’s my father’s name, I’m his son Steven.” “Oh no!” said Jerry in shock and disbelief, “We must be brothers.”

Quite sober now, Steven and Jerry talked for ages finding out a lot of things about each other and their dad.

Jerry was sad to learn that his father had died of cancer just a year earlier, but both he and Steven were so happy at having found each other. They exchanged addresses and promised to keep in touch.

The Aussie Bush

The day was hot, but under the cool canopy of the tall gum trees we walked along the dirt track, and the ferns covered the ground under the trees. A lizard slithered up a tree and a koala slept high up in the branches all alone.

The kids ran on, in a hurry to get to the waterfall for a swim, as the air was still and very humid in the heat of the day. I heard a rustle further over and I noticed a kangaroo with a Joey (baby kangaroo) in its pouch. She was probably heading for a grassy plain to eat.

The billabong (a backwater or pool) looked cool and inviting, as the waterfall floated over the rocks noisily, and the kids squealed with delight as they swung on the rope and landed into the cool refreshing waters below.

A carpet snake sat lazily on a branch sleeping in the warmth of the day, as a group of rainbow lorikeets chirped loudly in the trees, telling all who would listen that human’s were in their bush.

As the afternoon moved on, we had to sadly leave this beautiful enchanting place as the wild animals would want to come and drink from the fresh waters before evening set in

But a day at the billabong is lots of fun with animals to see, and swimming, swinging and jumping from the rope to do.

So by the time we get home and the kids fed, we are all too tired to do anything, but to go to bed.

The small child said. “How did the lizard get its name goanna?” Grandpa sat thinking on another log, He then said. “A long time ago when the first settlers came here,”

“A young couple set out on their horse and buggy for their new property. It was a long ride, and after awhile the lady who was called Anna, needed to go to the toilet.”

“While walking to a bush, she spotted a huge lizard. Having never seen a lizard so big before, she ran back to the wagon screaming, and she shakily told her husband that she would wait.”

Her husband nearly fell off the wagon he was laughing so much, at seeing his wife run so fast, and he said “Go Anna go.”

“After meeting some new friends at the local Inn he told the story of his wife and the lizard, and soon word had got around and everyone just kept on calling the monitor lizard a goanna.”

“So that is how the first settlers started to call the large lizard a goanna.”
